...is a familiar name on the orchestra lists for local symphonies, operas, and music theater. He is on the music department faculty list at CSU Chico, Concertmaster of the Paradise Symphony, and a member of the North State Symphony. He studied violin at USC, but his B.A. degree is from UCLA's pioneering department of Ethnomusicology. His private teachers were Jaroslav Kasal, Harris Goldman, and Vera Barstow.
Mr. Quivey teaches both beginning and more advanced students above the age of about 8. Very young students should go to a Suzuki school specialist.
Students of Mr. Quivey have a choice of doing either the traditional classical approach or they may prefer to focus their interests on a "folk fiddle" style.
